Reverend David Hatcher, 87, of Asheboro, died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at West Asheboro Church of God, Asheboro, NC, with Rev. Danny Shortridge, Rev. Ray Loftis, Rev. Ken Locklear, Dr. Ken Bell and Rev. Matt Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro, NC. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

A native of Marlboro County, SC, Reverend Hatcher was born May 14, 1931, the son of the late Chester and Leila Hatcher. He served in the National Guard.

Reverend Hatcher has served the Lord faithfully since 1961. He is an Ordained Minister in the Church of God and has served the church in various capacities, such as pastor, evangelist, district overseerer and missionary.

He retired from pastoral ministry in 1996 and evangelized the gospel until his death. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Above all he loved preaching the gospel and seeing souls won to Christ. His race is over and he is now receiving his reward.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Chester Hatcher, Benny Hatcher, Paul Hatcher and two sisters Ruth Swartz and Vergie Hall.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anna Ruth Hatcher; son, David Hatcher and wife Louise of Asheboro; son Ricky Hatcher and wife Kathy of Asheboro; son Kenneth Hatcher and wife Stephanie of Asheboro; grandchildren Lauren, Cameron and Jaxson of Asheboro. He is also survived by his care giver, Gwen Cox.

Receiving of friends and family will be Saturday, November 3 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the West Asheboro Church of God located on Lewallen Road in Asheboro.

Memorials may be to The Randolph Hospice House, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
