Raymond O'Dell Neal, Jr. died Tuesday, July 10, 2018. The first of three children to Raymond Neal, Sr. and Teresa Graves Neal, was born on July 26, 1970 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Affectionately known as "Jack", "Dell", "Ray" or "34", he was special to all who knew him. Baptized at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Brown Summit at the age of 10 years, he grew into a man of strong faith and conviction. Education was in the schools in Brown Summit. After completion of high school at Northeast, it was on to North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University, the pride of his life, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree. Raymond never left home without wearing an emblem of North Carolina A&T. It could be a jacket, shirt or hat. When you saw him, you would know immediately that he was an "Aggie". No matter where he traveled, Raymond would often be stopped by people who were graduates of North Carolina A&T. It could be Houston, California, Florida, anywhere, a fellow graduate would always stop him to talk about North Carolina. Raymond's professional career began at an early age with work for his dad at Neal Construction Company and continued until he moved to Houston. His professional work also included positions as Safety Manager with the City of Raleigh, the City of Houston and the City of Fresno. In 2005, while visiting Houston at a party, he met the love of his life,Emily. He was inspired to move to Houston the following year. On May 26, 2007, they were married. Raymond's search for a church home led him to Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church where he faithfully served with the Watchmen Ministry and Men's Ministry. He was a devoted father, coaching his son's basketball teams. His other hobbies included watching football, basketball and baseball. He was a big Atlanta Braves fan and he loved the Los Angeles Lakers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Family ties were deep and strong. Visits home were a priority in his life and when he was home, time was always spent with the family, elders and family friends.

Survivors are: beloved wife, Emily and son, Jackson; parents, Raymond, Sr. and Teresa; sister, Yolanda and brother, Brian; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
