Per his obituary, Al enlisted in the US Navy at age 18 and was accepted into the V-12 program. During and after his service, he completed medical school Cum Laude and Ob/Gyn residency at Washington University in St. Louis. He married Mary Heyl in 1949 and later moved to Fort Wayne, IN. There Al had a successful 43-year career. He and Mary permanently moved to Rancho Mirage, CA, in 2009 where he enjoyed golfing. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, brother Norman, and his parents. Survived by his sons Thomas and George, daughter Martha, as well as 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
