FORMER MASSENA EDITOR PASSES; RITES THURSDAY
Massena - Fred V. Brower, retired editor of the Massena News, died this morning at 4:30 in the Greenfield hospital, where he had been a patient since last Thursday. Death followed several weeks of illness of a heart ailment.
Surviving are his wife and two sons, Harry Brower of Compton, California and John Brower of Fontanelle and four grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Brower moved here from Bridgewater about seven years ago. Because of failing health Mr. Brower sold the News to Burton Hood March 1, 1948.
Mr. Brower was born May 12, 1888 in Bridgewater, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Delos Brower. He graduated from Bridgewater high school in 1902 and taught in the rural schools in Adair county for several years. In 1910 he married Miss Ella M. Sexton. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Massena Catholic church with the Rev. J. A. Devlin officiating.
