Per her obituary, Harriet was the daughter of Frank and Edith (nee Cook) Nichols and was raised on a farm near North Salem, IN. She earned her BA and MA degrees from Indiana U where she met her future husband Dave Kluxdahl. They married in Germany and remained there four years while Dave was in the air force. Upon their return to the US, Harriet became a high school teacher, specializing in business education. She was survived by her daughters Mary Jo, Beverly, and Carolyn, as well as six grandsons.
