Raymond Donald Brooks of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018, at the age of 86.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Asberry Brooks (1909-1944) of Mississippi and Winnie McDonald Brooks (1906-1976) of Alabama; and his grandson, Bradley Brooks. Also by brother Earl Stephen Brooks (1931-2006) and sister Reina Louise Brooks (1933-2002).

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Geraldine Brooks; four children, Danny (Mae) Brooks; Debra Brooks (Bruce) Grubbs; Donnie (Patti) Brooks; and David (Eileen) Brooks; along with 13 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, and three Great-Great Grandchildren.

Raymond worked for 42 years at Norfolk Southern Railroad, taking his first shift at the old terminal station. He was a lay preacher and always loved to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a member of South Roebuck Baptist Church. Raymond spent much of his life investing in the lives of others. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Acton Memorial Cemetery.
