Son of Dennis and Karen Potocki Casey, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School and received a master's degree in exercise physiology from Bloomsburg University. He was employed as a salesman for Tristate Carbonation. Chad was an avid Notre Dame and Philadelphia Eagles fan, and enjoyed heavy metal music.

Died at home after suffering from addiction.
