Theresa (Mary) Chavez, of Denver, passed away on November 11, 2012 at The Denver Hospice. Theresa was born in Boulder on May 6, 1946 to Emerenciano and Eva Bernal. For many years Theresa worked for Boulder County Social Service and Colorado Chautauqua. Theresa was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Travelling, bowling and socializing were some of Theresa's favorite hobbies. Theresa never complained and always made friends and family laugh. Theresa is survived by her children, Yvonne Chavez, Arthur Lee Chavez, Michelle McVay and Wendy Kendall and her siblings, Rosalie Garcia, Florida Bernal, Ernest Bernal and David Bernal. She is also survived by her grandson Jude Chavez-McVay and Jose Calzada. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Bernal and Eliria Ochoa. Recitation of the Rosary will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Thursday, November 15 at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow starting at 10:00. A reception will follow Mass at the American Legion Post 10 in Boulder.
