Karen Larsen Burnett
Karen Larsen Burnett of Layton, Utah, previously of Brigham City, Utah passed away at home unexpectedly at the age of 72, Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
Karen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 8, 1945, to Elmer and Phyllis Thomas Larsen of Tremonton. She was the 7th of 10 Children. She grew up in Tremonton, Utah, graduating from Bear River High School.
She met and married her sweetheart, Timothy Hughes Burnett, of Malad, ID, December 1, 1962. Tim and Karen lived in Malad, Idaho for a short time, then Ogden before moving to Brigham City, Utah, where they raised their 3 children: Heidi (Ken) Christopher of Tremonton; Blaine (Shelly) Burnett of Ogden; and Shane (Cindy) Burnett of Herriman.
Karen worked as an Office Manager and Veterinary Assistant at the Bear River Animal Clinic in Brigham City, Utah for 18 years. She loved her job there, and working with the animals, as well as helping the people that brought their animals to the clinic. Tim and Karen moved to Layton, Utah, in 2006 to be closer to Tim’s work at Ed Kenley Ford in Layton.
Karen’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her! She always wanted a hug and a kiss from them, or to sit on her lap, even when they grew to be adults. She was always interested in what they were doing, wanting to know all the details of their lives, and offering to help them however she could.
Karen was always complimentary to people when she would see them. She would call her siblings, children, and friends often, to check in on them. She was a great cook. Her family remembers excellent meals prepared by her for them to enjoy, especially Thanksgiving. She always wanted to look her best, no matter where she was going or what she was doing, or if she had visitors at home. She loved jewelry, and would always be wearing the gifts that she had received from Tim. She was always smiling and happy and seemed to love life. She was a little bit of a jokester. We were never quite certain what she would say or remark about.
Some of Karen’s favorite things: She loved trips to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with Tim and sometimes other family members every Memorial Day and Labor Day. She loved Christmas, Elvis Presley and listening to his music on Sirius Radio, Diet Coke, See’s Candy, Hallmark Movies and collecting things like Beanie Babies, figurines and Barbies. She loved tomatoes and cottage cheese, and her favorite dessert was coconut cream pie.
Karen is survived by her loving husband Tim and her 3 children Heidi (Ken), Blaine (Shelly) and Shane (Cindy). She has 7 grandchildren: Heidi’s children: Jamie Desposito, Jessica Christopher, Derek (Megan) Christopher; Blaine’s children: Amber Poulsen, Ashley Burnett; Shane’s children: Cameron Decker and Cayden Burnett. She has 3 great grandchildren: Taelyn & Jaylee Poulsen and Cole McKissen. She is also survived by 5 of her siblings: Marian (Robert) Boyington, Paul (Sue) Larsen, Bryan’s wife Emma Jean Larsen, Janice’s husband Joseph Claire, Gail (Bill) Bishop, Reid (Lori) Larsen, Chris (Debbie) Larsen. Also, her in-laws Terry (Sally) Burnett, Karen Burnett, Mindy Burnett, and many nephews and nieces.
She is predeceased by her parents Elmer and Phyllis Larsen and siblings Gary Larsen (infant death), Bryan Larsen, Janice Larsen Claire and Bradley Larsen. Also, her in-laws Chester and Blanch Burnett of Malad, Idaho, Randy Burnett and one nephew, Tayler Sellers.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00-11:45 at the mortuary. Interment to follow in the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah.
