Laura passed away January 6th, 2016 with her husband at her side. She was born March 27th, 1959 in Kansas City, KS to Joan (Jody) Breyfogle and Louis D. Breyfogle III and moved to Boulder, CO shortly thereafter. She attended Boulder schools and graduated from Fairview High School in 1977. She went to Stephens College in Columbia, MO and in 1981 graduated with degrees in Fashion Design and Business. After returning to Colorado, she got her teaching credentials and taught business in Boulder, Frederick and Thornton. Laura loved animals, especially big dogs, and had several at a time throughout her adult life including Bull Mastiffs, Saint Bernards, and a Bernese Mountain Dog. When she was 13 she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and would endure pain, disability and countless surgeries and joint replacements throughout her life. Yet she didn't let her disease define her. She twirled baton in the high school band, played harp for many events and weddings and also taught harp lessons. She had an adventurous spirit and traveled by mule into the Grand Canyon, went on several jaunts through Europe, and even earned her private pilots license and made several solo flights. She is survived by her husband, Steve Lowrey; mother, Jody Breyfogle; brothers, Dave Breyfogle (Pam), Todd Breyfogle (Allyson), and Rob Breyfogle (Shannon). A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Friday January 15th at 11 AM at Flatirons Baptist Church, 5475 South Boulder Road, in Boulder. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley or the Arthritis Foundation.
