At the age of 79, he ended his journey on earth at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Arnie was the son of William and Minnie Pollow, in Middleton. He was united in marriage to Waunetta Mae Rowe on March 28, 1951, and they enjoyed 55 blissful years together. Arnie operated the Oregon Mill with his father, then worked at Hoffman Salt Sales for eight years before his 27 years of driving tractor trailer for International Multifoods (Supersweet Feeds). One of his greatest accomplishments was driving more than two million miles accident free while driving for Supersweet Feeds. After his "official" retirement from Supersweet Feeds, Arnie and Waunetta spent 12 winters in Texas as snowbirds, and worked at Hubert Trailer Sales for 17 years during the summer months. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, singing in the church choir, and helping assemble church newsletters. Arnie's joys in life were camping with his family and friends, playing cards, dancing, gardening, and enjoying gambling trips with his wife. He also enjoyed the volunteer work at the Oregon Senior Center and through RSVP, which included his gardening work at the center, driving others to their medical appointments, and working at the world's largest brat fest. Arnie was a very special person and will be forever remembered for his humor, his smile, his caring for others attitude, and his wonderful ability to debate. Survivors include his wife, Waunetta; four daughters, grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, in-laws in the Rowe family; and nieces, nephews and many friends. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edith Schwenn and Violet Esser; and a brother, Victor Pollow. Funeral services were held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2006.
