He was born in 1925, a son of the late Lindsay Thomas Vance Sr., and Hester Shankle Vance and called Bristol “home” for all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was proud of his service and proud of the Navy. At age 93, he also was proud of being a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union for the past 66 years.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Emma Haynes Vance; son, Richard H. Vance and wife Wendy, of Bluff City, Tenn.; daughters, JoAnn Price and husband Arnold, Nancy Lewis and husband Gary, both daughters reside in Fort Mohave, AZ. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; grandson, Andrew R. Vance; granddaughter, April Tipton; and great grandson, Ty Tipton are all of Bluff City, Tenn. All other grandchildren and great grandchildren reside in Arizona and California.
The funeral service for Mr. Vance will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, 104 Cypress St, Bristol, Tenn., with Bro. David Burton and Bro. Mike Eklund officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The committal service and interment will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery.
