He was a member of the T. Neal Porter Masonic Lodge and the Morgan Mill Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Carla Tate; his children, Billy Tate, Lisa Tate, Morgan Tate, Laura McCarthy, and Amanda Berron and families; his sister, Cindy McManus and husband, Norm; step-children, Laura, Rebecca, Daniel and families; Pat’s children, Patricia, Jason and families; numerous cousins; special friend, Mike Hancock; and his cat, Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R. L. Tate, Jr., and Wanda Tate, a brother, Pat Tate, maternal grandparents, Clyde and Clona Day, and paternal grandparents, Roy and Mattie Tate.
