Daughter of Michael Brown and Rebecca Johnson. Youngest of nine children (as far as I know). Married Bernardus Swartwood Schoonover on March 17, 1846. Two children: Alice Estell (Schoonover) Bowden and May (Schoonover) Wyckoff (both buried in same area). Hester may have also had another middle name (Berner) or been married before because this name appears on some documents.

Obituary: Hester Schoonover

Hester Schoonover widow of the late Bernard Schoonover died at the home of her daughter Mrs. E. K. Wyckoff-512 Thomas Street at 6 o'clock this morning aged 81 years, 6 months, and 11 days. Death was caused by the infirmities incident to old age. Mrs. Schoonover was the daughter of the late Michael and Rebecca Brown and was born in New Jersey, December 9th, 1825. Early in life she came to this town where on March 17th 1846 she wedded Mr. Schoonover.

Mrs. Schoonover conducted a millinery store in this town for many years and her husband was at one time the proprietor and manager of the Monroe Democrat.
