Andy was born April 24, 1968, to Sharyn and Gary Nelson. Andy grew up in Granger and graduated from DMACC and worked for several different technical companies including NICE systems, Verint, and Calabrio. He never met a computer or phone system he couldn't fix. He truly enjoyed troubleshooting and fixing computers for people. Andy was married to Cody (Corinne) for 20 years. Their daughter, Karlee, was the pride and joy of his life. He was extremely proud of her and loved watching all of her activities with color guard, dance, singing, piano, and they shared a special bond of both playing the alto saxophone. Karlee plays Andy's old saxophone from high school. They also shared a love for the ISU Cyclones and pool upkeep. Andy brought much laughter to many people and will be sadly missed.
Andy is survived by Karlee, Cody, his parents, Sharyn and Gary Nelson, 4 brothers, twin brother, Eric (Heather, Lindsey), Brad Nelson, Brent (Judy, Frances, Abby, Anna, Joe), Jeff (Shannon, Regan, Jordan) and two sons of Cody's, Ryan McCauley (Brooke and granddaughters Stella and Monroe) and Cole McCauley (Kelli and grandsons Hayes and Harvey).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Fran Thompson, and Marion and Ruby Nelson.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny.
