Thomas Barbee was an early settler of Linn County, Missouri. Barbee, during the Mexican War, was the captain of the Linn County soldiers serving in the 1st Regiment of Missouri Mounted Volunteers (Dragoons), under the command of Colonel Alexander Doniphan in the New Mexico and Chihuahua campaigns.
