SAN ANTONIO--Margaret Jane Jackson Sloan of San Antonio, formerly Granbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at the age of 92 years. The eldest of three siblings, Margaret was born in Gorman, Texas, on Dec. 11, 1925, the daughter of J.O. and Lizzie Grace Jackson. Margaret graduated from Texas State College for Women (Texas Woman's University, Denton) in 1945. She worked as a county home demonstration agent and then was on staff at Texas A&M University in College Station as a food and nutrition specialist. While working in College Station, she met and married the love of her life, Weldon Clive Sloan. She became a stay-at-home mother after the birth of her children while actively serving her community and church. Her life's service included holding positions as the executive secretary for the Texas Home Economics Association (becoming distinguished as the Home Economist of the Year in 1985) and being elected to the Hurst, Texas, City Council where she served terms as a council member and mayor pro tem. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Clive, and her brothers, J.O. Jackson Jr. and Ronald Jackson. SURVIVORS: Margaret is survived by her daughter, Suzan McCarran and her husband, Tom; son, Bruce Sloan and his wife, Joni; grandchildren, Lindsey Turner, Grant Turner, Stuart Sloan, and Theresa Turner Joiner; and her niece, Annette Jackson. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, in the Gorman, Texas, Cemetery. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church Granbury and .
