LaVerne Flaherty Todd, 71, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, surrounded by her family. LaVerne was the daughter of the late Laverne Flaherty Peters and the late John B. Flaherty. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, William U. Todd III.

Born November 20, 1946 in Pittsburgh PA, she was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Academy and Mount Mercy College (Carlow University), where she played basketball and was on the debate team. Following graduation from Carlow, she was an English teacher for several years before becoming a devoted mother. In later years she was a photographer for Lifetouch Studios.

LaVerne was known to be the biggest cheerleader at her children's and grandchildren's extracurricular activities and sporting events. An avid Steelers fan, she was a season ticket holder and when she was not attending games, she was hosting family to watch Steeler games at her home.

She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews who fondly remember holidays spent in Lancaster, and days on the beach in Ocean City, NJ. She loved nothing more than entertaining family and friends, opening her home with no hesitation for holidays and events.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three loving children, Mary-Kathleen Hartenstein (Tom), William U. Todd IV (Jaclyn) and Pamela Konkol (Matthew). Also surviving are three siblings, sisters, Mary Louise Donovan and Carole Flaherty and brother, Jack Flaherty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Margaret Flaherty Kime.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in LaVerne's memory can be sent to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster PA 17604-4125.

A Gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
