Rebecca “Becky” Josephine Mize, age 79, of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at her residence.
Rebecca was born on August 30, 1939 in Dayton, TN, to the late Perle Dewey and Martha Lefa Taylor Weller. She was united in marriage to Shelby “Bill” Mize on July 17, 1981 in Jellico, TN. Becky was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed bird watching and working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed her flowers and vegetable gardens. But mostly, Becky loved spending time with her family and her husband, Bill. They enjoyed running his beagles before he passed away.
She is survived by three sons, Gary (and Melaine) Smith of Somerville, OH; Danny Ray (and Ruby) Mize of Mt. Vernon, KY; and David Scott (and Angie) Mize of Monroe, OH; four daughters, Joyce (and Brad) Lynn of Fairfield, OH; Janet Thompson (and Johnny Marlow) of Hamilton, OH; Tanya (and Garry) Robbins of Goshen, OH; and Barbara (and Robert) Burkett of Somerset, KY; fourteen grandchildren, Michael Weubben, Dale Thompson, Brandon Dyer, Sean Dyer, Misty Dyer, Jeremy Smith, Jessica Shoopman, Lauren Mize, Samantha McNelley, Ashley Deatherage, Brian Mize, Cody Mize, Emily Burkett, and Shawn Hardy, sixteen great-grandchildren, Ariana Dyer, Alexandra Dyer, Apollo Dyer, Hailey Mize, Lacey Mize, Gunner Mize, Gwen McNelley, Rowan McNelley, Heidi McNelley, Juliette Smith, Courtney Hardy, Miranda Carlson, Kayla Carlson, Danielle Carlson, Jacob Weubben and Gavin Weubben, one brother, Preston (and Island) Weller of Dayton, TN; one sister, Helen (and Leroy) Cranfill of Dayton, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby “Bill” Mize, her parents, P.D. and Lefa Weller, one sister, Barbara Cranfill, one brother, Beecher Weller, and one grandson, Mason Smith.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 12:00am until 2:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Bro. David Mize officiating. Burial will be at Mize Cemetery.
