The oldest settlers are gradually dropping off, and last week another joined the company beyond the river. Mrs. Polly Shoffstall died in the 12th inst., after a long and distressing illness, from a cancer of the breast, aged 76 years. She came to this county from eastern Pennsylvania, when a girl, in 18??. In 1829 she was married to John Shoffstall, who died the past summer. They lived near Cochranton about fifteen years. She had one son, Simeon, who lives on the old homestead. She was a member of the Reformed Church, and was a lady who was much respected for her social qualities and kindness of heart.
