Funeral service for Mr. Emily Calvin Hester, 59, of Opelika, is Saturday, May 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Burial is in Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplain Barbara Stauffer is officiating. Visitation is Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

Mr. Hester, who died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at his home, was born May 21, 1947, in Roanoke, AL. Mr. Hester worked at West Point Pepperell and was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Smith Hester. Mr. Hester is survived by three daughters, Tina Landreth (Johnny) of Lanett, Shelia Hill of Lanett and April Haynes (Chris) of Opelika; one son, Wayne Whaley of Lanett; mother of his children, Virginia Hester of Lanett; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; special friend, Wanda Riding of Opelika; brother, Alvie Hester (Barbara) Valley; two sisters, Anna Shellnutt (Perry) of Roanoke and Sara "Sister" Hester.
