Larry Lamar Bratcher, age 60, of Saint Charles, formerly of Independence, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 peacefully at his home. He was born November 2, 1957 in Kansas City, MO. The son of Louis Bratcher and the late Jennie Bratcher of Wentzville, MO.
Larry was a 1976 graduate of Truman High School, Independence, MO, and Alumni of Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO. Early in his career, he taught computer programming at St. Louis Community College – Meramec. He retired in 2015 from AT&T. During his career as an IT professional, he received a prestigious telecommunications award the Nova award.
Larry had a passion for feeding those he loved - cooking, grilling, smoking, trying out creative recipes, and even holding his own chili cookoff. Additional hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating, and camping with family and friends, passing along the traditions to his children and grandson. In addition, Larry was proud to share his love of Sam’s Club and Swiss Meat Market for anyone willing to listen. Even though he was never officially endorsed, he always said, “If it doesn’t come from Sam’s, we don’t own it!”
Larry was fully engaged in his children’s activities as well. He volunteered as General Manager of Lazers Soccer Club and Lou Fusz Soccer Club, Grand Marshall at an international soccer tournament, active volunteer in Boy Scouts, and softball coach. The ever-involved dad, he built both indoor and outdoor soccer nets and batting cages for home practices. His home projects did not end there; he crafted a club house, swing sets, and home gardens for his family to enjoy.
Larry found faith in the Catholic Church, volunteering his time at parish events and ultimately becoming a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cottleville.
Larry is survived by wife; Carla Bratcher of Saint Charles. His children; Jonathan Bratcher of Nevada, Patricia Bratcher and Jessica Bratcher of Saint Charles and grandson; Skylar Robben of Saint Charles. His father; Louis Bratcher of Wentzville MO.
