Funeral Home Obituary for Linda L. McDonald
Linda L. McDonald, 71, of Dushore, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born on June 28, 1947 in Sayre, a daughter of the late Ralph and Geraldine (Crawford) Karge of Dushore.
Linda was a graduate of Sullivan County High School, Class of 1965. After graduation she spent four years working for the Pennsylvania State Treasurer, Harrisburg. She returned to Dushore in 1971 to raise her family and then worked in the Sullivan County School District cafeteria, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Dushore, and was involved as a 4H leader for over 30 years. Linda was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 996, Dushore. She was also 17th District President for the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Linda was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #3428, Muncy, Women of the Moose, Chapter 2222, Muncy Valley, the Kellogg Mountain Rod & Gun Club, Monroeton, The Travelers Protective Association Post W, Williamsport, the Order of United Commercial Travelers of America, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System.
Linda took great joy in reading and gardening, collecting angels, holiday decorating, and helping others, which is reflected in the works she did with 4H and the American Legion. Both her smile and big heart made a lasting impression on everyone who met her. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and family playing board games and vacationing.
Surviving are her loving husband Raymond J. McDonald Sr.; a son, Raymond J. McDonald Jr. of Dushore; a daughter, Gwen (Shawn) Klingler of McClure; two grandchildren, Kierstin Klingler and Cameron Klingler, both of McClure; three sisters, Vera E. Karge of Dushore, Nina L. Karge of Dushore, and Lena I. Karge of Montgomery; two brothers, Ronald K. Karge of Nanticoke, and Leo Karge of Dushore; four sisters-in-law, Becky Karge of Mechanicsburg, Ann Karge of Clifton Springs, NY, Minnie Karge of Binghamton, NY, and Dolores Karge of Dushore; and numerous nieces and nephews,.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita M. Gilbert, and Anita W. Karge; four brothers, Alvin G. Karge, Melvin Karge, Ivan V. Karge, and Kleon Karge; a sister-in-law, Shirley Karge; a brother-in-law, Joe Gilbert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, at St. Basil's Church, 101 Churchill St., Dushore, with Rev. Richard Rojas presiding. Burial will follow in St. Basil's Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the Sullivan County Library or a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Dushore.
