Max Haase, formerly of the Reynolds, Nebr., vicinity passed away near Douglas Wyo., at the home of his employer, Saturday, August 23, 1941, at the age of 23 years, 1 month and 7 days. He had been in poor health for some time.
He was born July 16, 1918 near Benson Nebr., the son of Frank Charles Haase and Rachael N. Sawyer Haase. He lived near Reynolds and Gilead, going to Douglas, Wyo., several years ago. He was a graduate of an engineering school in Los Angeles, Calif.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Gladstone, Mrs. Viola Kriesel of Gurley, Nebr., and Mrs. Isabel Tipton of Harrison, Nebr.; by eight brothers, Frank of near Fairbury, Gale of Reynolds, George of Plattsmouth, Nebr., Alvin of Van Tassel, Wyo., Malvin of Lusk, Wyo., Ernest of Torrington, Wyo., Carl of New Castle, Wyo., and Richard who is in the United States army of occupation in Iceland. His parents and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at Douglas, Wyoming and at two o'click Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church in Reynolds, with Rev. Alexander Greeb of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church east of Gladstone, officiating. Burial in the Reynolds cemetery.

Converse County, Wyoming mortuary records and Max's obituary in the Douglas Budget August 28, 1941 show that Max was born July 16, 1918 in Denton, Nebraska, one of twelve children; and died in Converse County, Wyoming at the Alex S. Cross ranch south of Douglas, Wyoming from self-inflicted poison. He was the son of Frank Haase, born in Pennsylvania and _____ Sawyer, born in Nebraska. He was survived by eight brothers, Ernest of Torrington, WY, Carl of Newcastle, WY; Melvin of Lusk, WY; and Alvin of Van Tassell, WY; Frank, George and Gale, all of Fairbury, NE and Richard of Montana. Also surviving were three sisters, Mrs. V. L. Tipton of Harrison, NE; Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Fairbury, NE; and Mrs. Viola Kreisel of Sidney, Nebraska. His parents had preceded him in death.
