ALEXANDRIA, IN-Matthew T. “Matt” Porter, 46, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 24, 2018, in his residence.

He was born on September 11, 1972, in Anderson to Gary and Marsha (Brenner) Porter and has lived in the Madison County area most of his lifetime. He graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1992. He was currently employed as a Transportation Driver for Hillcroft Services. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Anderson. Matt served on the Richland Township Fire Department for 25 years before retirement in 2017 as a Captain. He had also served as Safety Training Officer for the department. He was a member of the Honor Guard- 24/7 Commitment program.

Survivors:
Wife-Ellen (Albertson) Porter-married October 3, 2003
Father-Gary (Pamela) Porter-Muncie
Several step-brothers, step-sisters, aunts and uncles also survive

Matt was preceded in death by his mother-Marsha Porter, his paternal grandparents-Taylor and Betty Porter, his mother-in-law and father-in-law-Charles and Nancy Albertson

Services honoring Matt’s life and legacy will take place at 7 pm on Monday, October 29, 2018 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Pastor Doug Stein will officiate. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home after 4 pm on Monday prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Owens Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.
