Jo Anne Sharp, age 78 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. She was born on February 28, 1940 in Marion, Ohio, to Chester and Mattie (Hutchinson) Thacker. She met the love of her life Fred “Fritz” Sharp at the Crystal Skating Rink. They were married on September 6, 1956 in Connersville, Indiana, and were together for 62 years.
Jo Anne was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed making desserts, pies, bread, buns, and candies for her family.
After her children were raised, she worked as a cashier at Pleasant High School. Later, she also worked at Coaches Corner.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Fred “Fritz” Sharp; daughter Tami (Rick) Drollinger; grandchildren David (Lisa) Drollinger and Dawn (Jason) Roberts; and four great-grandchildren Christopher and Ashlyn Drollinger and Elizabeth and Blake Roberts, all of Marion. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Jenner, Ralph (Becky) Thacker, Norma (Bob) Gullett, June (Larry) Isaac, and Jim (Patti) Thacker; her aunt Madeline McKnight; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Ron Sharp, and her brother Clarence Thacker.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will take place on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10 am at the funeral home with Pastor Joshua Freshour officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery.
