Ryan G. Roper, 40, of Kearney, passed away October 23rd at CHI hospital in Kearney. He was surrounded by family and friends. A gathering will be held from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 17th at Old Town Hall (1900 Central Avenue, Kearney) to celebrate Ryan's life.

He was born on February 10, 1978 to Tim and Debbie (Mills) Roper. He grew up in Gibbon before moving to Kearney. Ryan had recently taken over the family business, Roper's Radiator.

Ryan married Erica (Bell) Roper on March 19th, 2005. They had a son, Chance, and shared a stepson, Paul "Aidan" Blankenship. Ryan loved his kids unconditionally and was very active in their lives. He especially enjoyed taking them fishing, attending their sporting events, cooking for them and spending time with them just hanging out around the house. He was very proud of the young men they were becoming.

Ryan married the love of his life Kelly (Hachtel) Roper on June 29th, 2017. They had a teacup chihuahua named Mackeee. He was their pride and joy. Sadly, Kelly preceded Ryan in death in November 2017.

Ryan's sister Missy and her family, Aaron, Gabrielle, and Lily, were very special to Ryan. They spoke several times daily and were often the recipients of his fresh and delicious meals. Birthday and Christmas presents usually included vouchers for a home cooked meal of their choice. Ryan and Gabrielle enjoyed weekly lunch dates talking about everything and anything. He also enjoyed giving Lily golf and cooking lessons and having her help him out at the shop.

Ryan LOVED to cook and made everything from scratch. He spent countless hours on the internet spamming his friends and family with videos. He loved cooking shows. He was a movie buff. He enjoyed watching sports and had a love of music. He loved to fish and take people out on his boat. He and the guys golfed as much as possible. He was an avid online shopper, and if he visited you and something wasn't up to his standards, you'd receive a package in 3-5 days with replacements. Ryan would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. He had a smile that was infectious and an especially unique personality. There was never a dull moment when Ryan was around. He was an amazing father, big brother, uncle and friend. He was so loved and will be missed deeply.

Ryan was survived by his first wife, Erica Bell of Kearney, his sons, Chance Roper of Kearney, Aidan Blankenship of St. Paul, his sister Missy Onate and her family, Aaron, Gabrielle, and Lily all of Gibbon, and grandmothers Ila Roper and Betty Skiles, both of Kearney.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
