Born September 9, 1924 in Nelson County, he was the son of the late James Henry and Dolly Wood. He was retired from John P. Hughes Motor Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Wood is survived by one son, Harold A. Wood and his wife, Debbie of Madison Heights; one daughter, Linda W. Burks and her husband Roger, of Amherst; one brother, James "Pete" Wood of Lynchburg; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Whitten Monelison Chapel by Rev. Ronnie Freeman.
