Vincent graduated from Bob Jones High School in 1976. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 3 years. After leaving the military, he continued his education and received an Associate Degree from Drake Technical School. He began working with the federal government as a Petroleum Specialist with Redstone Arsenal for seven years. Vincent’s last place of employment was with WellStone Behavioral Services as a Maintenance Specialist; where he worked for 18 years until his retirement in June 2018.
Vincent confessed and accepted Christ and joined West Huntsville Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Scott Gossett. He was a helpful and faithful servant. He sang in the choir, performed in the Christmas and Easter plays and volunteered with the Awana Program.
Vincent had an unwavering faith and all who crossed his path could clearly see and feel God’s presence in him. He was always willing to help a neighbor with a listening ear and prayer and laughter. As one of his co-workers and friend so beautifully stated “I was a caterpillar and he encouraged and supported me during difficult times…. I am now a butterfly because of him”. Vincent touched and impacted the lives of so many in the same way.
Vincent was a quiet and gentle man. He loved and adored being with his family and friends, especially for cookouts and those special Sunday dinners. One of his favorite leisure enjoyment was fishing with his brothers and nephews. Vincent also enjoyed watching western movies and college football.
He leaves to cherish loving and fond memories: a son, Jerome Jones Hurtado; a granddaughter, Jory; sisters: Gwendolyn (Dennis) Patterson of Madison, AL, Louvenia Banks and Bobbie Teague of Huntsville, AL and Linda (Marvin) Stallworth of Matthews, NC; brothers: Jack (Minnie) Jones, Joe Jones and Darryl Jones (Jessie) of Madison, AL, Manuel (Maxine) Jones, Jr., of Huntsville, AL; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other adoring relatives and friends.
