Mildred Hall Stewart, 93, of New Hope, AL
She was born in Brookhaven, MS on February 20, 1927. A private burial ceremony will be at New Hope Historical Cemetery in New Hope. In light of COVID-19, the family will wait to have a celebration of life when it is safe to resume public gatherings
Mildred Hall Stewart a truly beautiful woman has left this earthly life and entered into her heavenly home on July 30, 2020. Mildred was a beloved mother, mother in law, grandmother, and a great friend. Mildred was a woman of great strength of character and devout faith, putting others before herself. She was a very kind; considerate and took great pride in raising her son and showering her grandchildren with boundless love and affection. She is now in the peaceful arm of our heavenly Father, and resting eternally with the loved ones who have gone on before her, especially her beloved husband of 65 years her soul mate George.
She was preceded death by her parents James Thomas and Norma Newton Hall of Brookhaven, MS Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, George Longino Stewart, Jr. She was also predeceased by three sisters Anna Bell Smith, Bobby Ray Allen, Maimo Fisackerley and one brother Versie Lee Hall.
Mildred is survived by her beloved son Douglas and his wife Juanita. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Astasha Baker (Shane), Tamera Wilbourne (Tom) Doug Stewart, Jr (Amy), and Timothy Pennington. She also had four great grandchildren.
Mildred was awarded a scholarship to Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and later transferred to Mississippi Southern College where she met George the love of her life. Mildred and her husband moved frequently living in Gulfport, MS, Ft. Walton Beach, FL EL Paso, TX, Huntsville, AL and finally moving to the quite city of New Hope, AL where she has lived for the past 56 years. She grew to love North Alabama for its natural beauty.
