Neil Barry Rivard Smith, 68, of Waynesboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born in Hudson, Wisconsin, on June 8, 1950, to the late George and Virginia (Menafee) Rivard.

He was Co-owner of Virginia Industrial Services and worked as a Machinist and also served in the United States Navy. He was a member of Free United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.

Neil is survived by his wife, Linda Smith; six children, David Carter (Tammy), Kevin Rivard, Carrie Ferris (John), John Rivard and fiancée, Kelly Thomas, Holley Carter and fiancé, Jason Nutty, and Polly Fulwider (Chris); 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Rivard (Margaret) and Dennis Rivard (Katie); one sister, Kathy Lyons (Vonn); many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his beloved and special four-legged companion, "Snoopy" his Dachshund.

Special thanks to Legacy Hospice, especially his nurse, Diane and aide, Nancy.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Waynesboro. Interment will be at a later date in Culpeper National Cemetery. Professional services provided by McCutcheon's Funeral Home (540)943-6938.
