Eugene Vincent Sullivan, 79, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on October 18, 2018.

Eugene was one of the original White Oak Volunteer firefighters. He worked for Farmer’s Creamery until it closed. Then he went to work for Silver Ridge Farm. He then went to work at ATA Tire Center until he retired. His greatest enjoyment was mowing lawns for his friends and family and working in the garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dell and Roy Sullivan, his sisters Audrey Porter and Christine King, and his brother Nelson Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bertha (Boots) Sullivan; his siblings, Doug Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Nancy Chewning, Joyie Sullivan, and Phyllis Williams; his five children, Robin Matthews, Anne Sullivan, Chip Sullivan, Jennifer Bailey, and Karen Ramey; his seven grandchildren, David Matthews, Christopher Bailey, Patrick Bailey, Travis Bailey, Katie Ramey, Kayla Ramey, and Danni Lynn Ramey; and his five great-grandchildren, Connor Bailey, Mason Bailey, Raegan Bailey, Roman Ramey, and Lily Ramey.

We wish to thank all of his loyal friends who stuck with him through his six year battle with cancer: Herman Thompson, Fred Newton, Linda Newton, Dennis Ray Newton, Robert Sullivan, Bill Cornett, and Jerry Silver.

The funeral will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Thursday October 25, 2018 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to White Oak Civil War Museum, 985 White Oak Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22405.
