Brett Raymond Smith age 39, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on October 21, 2018 at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, IL with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Hammond, Indiana on March 16, 1979 to his loving parents Ralph and Debra (nee Bartnik) Smith.
Brett grew up in Algonquin, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Missouri and thrived as a sports editor for the Freeport Journal Standard. He spent three years living in Hawaii where he decided to pursue his law degree. Brett went back to the University of Missouri and completed his law degree in 2015, subsequently passing the bar in both Illinois and Missouri
Brett is survived by his loving wife Jordan Smith (nee Pishotta) who he married on November 19, 2016; his loving son, Emmett Smith; his father Ralph Smith; his brothers, Adam (Cassie) Smith and Michael (Jennifer Panek) Smith; he is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.
Brett was preceded in death by his mother, Debra S. Smith, his paternal grandparents, Clarence & Ethel Smith and his maternal grandparents Chester & Barbara Bartnik.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one mile east of Algonquin Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
Funeral Service to be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church , 300 Jefferson St., Algonquin. Interment Private.
