Betty Jane Houston (nee Freed), 87, passed away Saturday October 20, 2018 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. She was born January 17, 1931 in Oberlin and lived in Lorain County for most of her life.

Betty was retired and formerly worked at several area nursing homes as a nurses aid and in housekeeping. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and gardening.

Betty is survived by; three daughters, B. J. Shick of Wakeman, Susan Mitchell of Cleveland and Ann Curry of Akron; one son, Robert Konicek of Norwalk; one step-daughter, Shirley Cellers of Elyria; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and by two sisters, Myrtle Eddy of LaGrange and Lela Cross of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by; her husband, Wesley Houston in 2005; one sister, Florence Shiflet; and by two brothers, Charles and Clifford Freed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.

A graveside service will follow at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township. Pastor David Swartz will officiate.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
