In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia “Pat” M. Creel; his infant sister; his mother-in-law, Maude Miller; and brother-in-law, Edward Marks.
J.C. was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He worked for many years in the parts department of local businesses, retiring from Brown Ford Tractor. He and Patty spent many years traveling the area hosting cookware parties. He loved meeting new people, cooking for them, sharing jokes and selling them a quality product. He was a hard worker and devoted to his family and friends. J.C. was a kind man with a gentle soul.
He is survived by his mother, Lucy B. Creel; his brothers, W. Gordon Creel and his wife, Doris of Culpeper, and Perry Lewis Creel and his wife, JoAnn of Culpeper; and his sister, Gloria Phillips and her husband, Aubrey of Culpeper. He also leaves his nephew, Andrew B. Lohr and his wife, Meredith and their two children, Emma and Russell; his niece, Julie Lohr and her daughter, Olivia Rose; two aunts, Isabelle Soutter and Ollie Virginia Fincham; his sister-in-law, Bettie M. Marks; several step nieces and nephews; and many cousins and numerous friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kang Lee and Chaplain Denise Vogt officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodland United Methodist Church Cemetery.
