Funeral services celebrating the life of Joyce Raye Estes will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA. Officiating will be Rev. James Doughty of First Baptist Church, Monroe. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 23rd from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Park West, Shreveport, LA at 2:00 PM officiated by Dr. Chuck McInturf, of Woodridge Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA.
Joyce was born in Forty Four, Arkansas to Merle and Harlin Estes, Sr. on April 22, 1945. She was a 1967 graduate of Northeast LA University (ULM) with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. In 1994, she embarked on a new profession by receiving a nursing degree from LA Tech.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Albert Raye and Ida Mary Estes. Left to cherish her memory are sister Betty Wells and husband Ron; and valued family friend, “Aunt” Marsha Louise Popwell of Monroe. Joyce was loved by numerous nieces and nephews; extended family members; and the Popwell family who considered her “Aunt” Joyce.
Honorary pallbearers: Dr. Benny Popwell, Michael Popwell, Dr. Brad Johnson, Byron Wells, Jack Haines, Cameron Haines, Kevin Rogers and Trent Rogers.
