Wilma P. Apsey, 90, of Alpena, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Maple Grove Adult Foster Care in Barton City.



Born December 16, 1927 to Russell J. and Anna M. (Cubalo) Apsey in Lincoln, she was raised there. Wilma graduated from Oscoda High School in 1945. She worked as a secretary for Wm. R. Barber, the Prosecuting Attorney in Harrisville, and later as a bookkeeper at Nieman’s Hardware in Lincoln. In 1948, she moved to Royal Oak where she worked as a bookkeeper and cashier for Rolls Battery and Service until 1955 when she went to work for Chevrolet-Detroit Forge typing metallurgical reports. She lived in California for 2 and a half years, returning to Michigan in 1963. Wilma retired in 1991, and moved to Alpena several years later. She enjoyed travelling and oil painting.



Wilma is survived by her sister, Margaret (Don) Read of Lincoln, two nieces, Teresa (Greg) Hart of Lincoln, and Kathy (James) Austin of Ferdonia, NY, one nephew, David (Beth) Read of Spruce, as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.



Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Harrisville from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Rev. Robert Bissot will officiate. Burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln.
