After the death of sons Edgar and Norman in WW1 and serious injury of Aubrey and Harold his work centered mainly on war memorials
Attended Eastman’s Royal Naval Academy at Southsea after college,
then in 1872 travelled to Canada to gain experience in building returning to England in 1875
