He was born on February 26th 1928 in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late George A. and Lois Harlow (Robinson) Murray.
He graduated from Jamaica Plains High School in Mass. in 1945.
From 1946 to 1948 he served with the US Army in Osaka, Japan.
He attended Northeastern University and Michigan State University completing Bachelor's degrees in Biological Science and chemistry.
He also graduated from Veterinary School in 1957. He completed his Master's degree in Animal Pathology in 1965.
While at Michigan State, Roger met Shirley Louise Nonneman and they were married on December 26th 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. They celebrated 67 years together.
Theirs was a student marriage for seven years after which Roger became a member of the (UVM) University of Vermont faculty in Burlington, Vt. in the Animal Studies Department until his retirement in 1991.
He was a skillful veterinary pathologist and taught animal anatomy, health, and physiology. He was awarded Research Associate Professor Emeritus.
After retirement he became an active volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, the Red Cross, South Burlington Senior Citizens, and RSVP School Buddies. Roger was the recipient of the RSVP Volunteer of the Year Award.
He was predeceased by his parents, and one brother; Francis Albert Murray in 1979.
