Ron Weiss, 70-year-old Buffalo resident, passed away Oct. 17 at his home in Buffalo.

Ronald Duane Weiss was born June 25, 1948, in Casper to Lee and Marie Weiss. He grew up and went to school in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School with the class of 1967. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as military police. He received an honorable discharge in 1973 and returned to Wyoming where he attended the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy. He was married in 1977 in Twentynine Palms, California, to Jackie Thompson, and they made their home in California. In 1974, he moved to Casper and took a job as a deputy sheriff for Natrona County.


Following a divorce, he was married in 1985 in Casper to Kathy McKnight, and they lived in Casper where he worked for Wilsons Supply for 10 years. In 1996, he went to work for Casper Transportation as a driver. He was married Aug. 9, 2015, in Kaycee to Rita Kuntz, and they lived in Casper. In 2017, they moved to Buffalo where he worked for Buffalo Area Transportation System until the time of his death.

He was a member of the Paint Horse Association and the Elk’s Club. Ron was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, but his passion was raising horses and rodeo.

He is survived by his wife, Rita of Buffalo; one son, Camaron Weiss also of Buffalo; two daughters, Amy Anderson and her husband Brett of Gillette, and Tina Weiss of Casper; one sister, Sandy of Florida; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
