Jean Wallace, of Fairfield, Iowa, died on October 18, 2018, at the Jefferson County Health Center.

Family and friends may gather at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield. The service will begin at 11:00, with the Reverend Joseph Phipps officiating. A lunch reception will follow. Burial of cremains will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield on Wednesday, October 24, at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bonnifield Chapter of Questers, Fairfield. Cards and memorials can be sent to, 204 West Union St. Mahomet, Il. 61853.

Jean Wallace was born in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Ivan and Melissa Beebe. She graduated from Central City High School and attended classes at Coe College in Cedar Rapids and Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa.

She met her husband, Donald Wallace, in Cedar Rapids and they were married there in 1956. She was a secretary to the plant manager of Cryovac/W.R. Grace Co. In 1958 they moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she was a legal secretary for Dickinson Law Firm. In 1963, they moved to Fairfield.

Mrs. Wallace was employed by Wooden Wheel Antiques, IDS Financial Services, and Fairfield Public Library. She was active in Gamma Circle at the Presbyterian Church, Chapter H.A. PEO, and Wit and Wisdom Club. She was a member of Lionels, and the Bonnifield Chapter of Questers, serving as president for two years. She also served for three years as an Elder in the Fairfield Presbyterian Church.

Jean and her husband were the proprietors of a small antique side-business since 1994. She was fond of tennis and downhill skiing until age 71. She also enjoyed working with young students with reading problems. She retired in 1989.

Survivors include her husband Don, and both sons, Jeff (and wife Jill), and Michael. Also surviving are sister Dixie and brothers Foch, Jack, and Hal. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Stanford and Dale.
