Geneva (Nee Watson) Green was born on March 5, 1951 in Baltimore City, MD, to the late Mattie Mae Roland and Phinzy Watson, Sr. After a year-long battle with cancer, Geneva’s Ladybug came to visit her, she received her wings and was called home to her eternal rest on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the St. Joseph Medical Center.
Geneva was raised by her mother Mattie Roland and Step-father A. C. Roland, Sr. Geneva was the oldest daughter of seven children. She was a loving caring sister who took her role as being the big sister with much pride always being available when needed. Geneva always gave sound advice, she took care of her siblings when they were sick and encouraged them. Geneva was an avid reader, she played the violin for a brief time and shared her talent with her siblings.
Geneva was educated in the Burlington City school system. She graduated in 1969 from Burlington City High School, Burlington, NJ. After graduating high school Geneva worked as a bank teller for First Union Bank in Burlington, NJ. After leaving the bank, Geneva worked as a secretary for U.S. Pipe Foundry in Florence, NJ for many years.
Geneva met and married the love of her life Sgt. Benjamin T. Green, Jr. on June 2, 1977 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. To this union was born one child, Candice Nichelle Green. Geneva, Ben and Candice moved to Wichita Falls, TX in 1980 and then to Tacoma WA in 1985 where she lived until her passing. Geneva worked in the Banking Industry for many years. From March 1985 until September 1986 she was employed at Telco Credit Union as a Loan Processor/Visa Assistant. She was rehired in February 2001 until July 2017 as a Teller, Member Services Specialist and a Member Service Consultant at the Sound Credit Union
Geneva and Ben loved to travel and traveled to Alaska, Indonesia, Canada, The Philippines, Hawaii and Mexico.
Geneva knew the Lord and was baptized on April 7, 1996 at Mt. Zion Community Baptist Church in Parkland, WA. She was a member of Living Word Christian Church, (The Sticky Love Church) of Tacoma, WA.
Geneva leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: her husband of 41 years, Benjamin T. Green, Jr. of Tacoma, WA; two step-daughters Marla Mabone of Madison, TN and Elisar Green of New Orleans, LA; five sisters, Darline Jones of Washington, NC, Christine Matthews of Burlington, NJ, Margaret Walker of Burlington, NJ, Betty Harris (Curtis) of Willingboro, NJ and Patricia Roland of Edgewater Park, NJ; three sisters-in-law, Christina G. Davis of Reserve, LA, Conchetta Mason and Sandra Snyder of Dallas, TX; one brother-in-law Michael J. Green (Valencia) of Reserve, LA; five grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren by marriage, a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Geneva was preceded in death by her daughter, Candice Nichelle Green, her parents A.C. and Mattie Roland, Sr., her brothers Phinzy Watson and A.C. Roland, Jr.; nephews Hassan Omar Jones, Quincy Neal Matthews, and Tre'-Breon Roland.
Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Thou has been faithful over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many things. Matthew 25:21.
