Betsy was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, the daughter of Arthur and Avril Thorne. As a young girl, she moved Port Arthur with her family and had lived here ever since. She worked for many years at Manitoba Pool and later at the Board of Education where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. Betsy enjoyed traveling to Grand Portage with her dear friends.

Her greatest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Betsy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her children Kirsten (Dennis) Pradal and Kyle (Katherine Mayer) Rogers, grandchildren Lily and Eli Pradal, sister Marilyn (Hugh) Sutton, brother Gary (Vicki) Thorne, brother-in-law Ken Bruley, the father of her children Gary Rogers, dear friends, Sheree Kukko and Chris Irwin as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, and her sister Linda Bruley.
