LONG, Otis Warren, 87, of Richmond, Va., passed peacefully to be with his Lord on October 18, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Clifton and Essie Simpkins Long; and two brothers, Robert Clifton Long and Garland Lee Long. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Emerson Long; son, Greg Long and wife, Tracy; and daughter, Jana Lasek and husband, Jay; four grandchildren, Larson and Zach Lasek and Claudia and Casey Long; nephews, Bobby, Doug and Chris Long; and niece, Paige Peak. He was born on March 7, 1931, graduated from John Marshall High School and the University of Richmond, where he was president of his fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta and an All Southern Conference member of the baseball team. After serving as an officer for the U.S. Army in Korea, he was employed by IBM and Smithdeal Massey Business College. As founder of The Braxton School, Warren was most proud of the impact the school had on the lives of the students and faculty. In his retirement, he was always there for his family with a smile on his face, a story to tell and wanted everyone to be on his team; now he is on God's team. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Bliley's, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Interment will be private.
