Mrs. Hewitt was born in Camden County on June 24, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Earl Abner and Doris Ballance Sawyer. A homemaker, she was a member of Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Robert Earl Hewitt; her daughter, Donna Lambert and husband, Chris; her son, Robbie Hewitt; all of Elizabeth City; her grandson, Andy McCoy (Mary); and her great-grandson, Arden McCoy.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church, and will be conducted by the Revs. Ken Littleton and M. R. White. A private burial will be in Koen Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the Family Life Center immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.
