Miss Abraham Bride Of Ward Stevenson Jr. Church Wedding, June 28

Miss Florence Abraham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Abraham, and Ward Stevenson Jr., son of Ward Stevenson, all of Richland, were married at the Presbyterian Church in Schuyler, Sunday afternoon, June 28, by the Rev. John H. Patterson.

White daisies and orange colored gladioli decorated the altar for the 3 o'clock double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Beverly Mihulka played traditional wedding marches, and the Misses Jayne and Sally VanHousen sang "Oh Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly."

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white satin with scalloped nylon lace front and back panels. The lace over satin bodice featured a high neckline, and had seed pearl and flower embroidery trim. Tiny self-covered buttons closed the bodice and also complimented at the wrists the long lace sleeves which were styled with beaded caps. A crown effect headpiece with pearl trim held in place her sheer fingertip veil, and she carried a bouquet of red roses on a white satin ribbon.

Attending their sister as maid of honor and bridesmaid were the Misses Elaine and LaVerna Abraham. They were dressed in blue frocks fashioned with strapless embroidered lace over satin bodices and tiered net over satin skirts with peplum effect. Each wore a matching lace jacket with stand-up collar and short sleeves and a pearl trimmed headdress. Their bouquets were pink and white carnations on pink net ribbon.

Donald Abraham, brother of the bride, was best man, and Thielen Stevenson, brother of the bridegroom, was an attendant. Jerry Abraham Jr. and Raymond Best Jr. were ushers.

Arlene Stevenson, sister of the bridegroom, was candle lighter. She wore a blue satin formal.

Mary Ann Schneider was flower girl and wore a puffed-sleeved satin floor-length dress with net over skirt. She had matching mitts and carried a basket of rose petals.

Lloyd Stevenson, cousin of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. He wore a white linen suit and black bow tie, and carried the rings on a heart-shaped satin and lace pillow.

The bride's mother wore a navy polka dot dress with navy accessories and a corsage of baby red roses.

A 6 o'clock supper was served at the Top Notch to 28 guests.

From 7 until 9 o'clock, the newlyweds were honored by about 250 guests at a reception at the Legion Club. A four-tiered white wedding cake, decorated with a miniature bride and bridegrom (sic), centered the refreshment table. Candles in crystal holders and white mums flanked the cake on either side.

Mrs. Ray Best Jr. and Miss Arlene Stevenson registered the guests. The Misses Alice Kral, Betty Bohac, Florence Kracl, Darlene Konopik, Norma Shonka, Joan Abraham, Dorothy Moural and Twila Schneider assisted with the gifts.

Mrs. LeRoy Vanicek and Miss Eleanor Abraham cut the cake. Miss LuEtta Schneider and Miss Sybillia Legler poured and Miss Margaret Horak and Miss Arlene Lambrecht served.

Waitresses were the Misses Carolyn Lambrecht, Joyce Abraham, DeAnna Dubsky and June and Beatrice Legler.

A dance at Oak Ballroom honored the couple later in the evening.

The bride attended rural schools and Schuyler High School, and has taught school since. The bridegroom attended rural schools, and served two years with the U. S. Army, 18 months of which were in Alaska. He is engaged in farming, and following their honeymoon to western points the young couple will reside on a farm north of Richland.
