Mrs. Pearl Anderson age 92 of the Defeated Creek Community died at 2:35 p.m. Saturday afternoon October 2, 2018 at Knollwood Manor in Lafayette where she had been cared for since August 23, 2016. On November 24, 2011 she retired and moved from her Pinewood Lane home to The White House Assisted Living, also in Lafayette.
Her pastor, Eld. Jeff Patterson, officiated at the 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon October 28th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in section four at the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
The youngest of eight children born to the late Willie Herbert Dillehay who died at the age of 80 in 1970 and Letha Bell Anderson Dillehay who died at the age of 37 in 1928, she was born Electa Pearl Dillehay in the Defeated Creek Community on February 17, 1926.
All seven of her siblings preceded her in death, four sisters; Osa Donoho Dillehay Kemp who died at the age of 90 on February 22, 2001, Nora Mildred Dillehay Huffines who died at the age of 88 on May 1, 2003, Florence Helen Dillehay Nixon who died at the age of 87 on January 23, 2009, Myrian Beatrice Dillehay Wilmore Hire who died at the age of 84 on August 26, 2008, and three brothers, Doyle Granville Dillehay who died at the age of 84 on February 22, 1997, Lutrell Dillehay who died at the age of 83 on April 6, 2000 and Otis Cleveland “Bob” Dillehay who died at the age of 96 on September 21, 2006.
Mr. Bob lived to an older age of any of the eight children and Mrs. Pearl was the only daughter to live to be in her 90’s.
She was employed for fourteen years at the former Carthage Shirt Corporation and for
Twelve and a half years before her retirement in 1992 she was employed at the Heritage Manor Health Care, now The Palace, in Red Boiling Springs.
A life-long Primitive Baptist in faith, she had been a member of the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in the Defeated Creek Community since 1940 when she was baptized at the age of 14.
A loving mother and faithful member of the old church, she cherished her Church family, her earthly family and her dear friends.
Surviving are her four children; two daughters, Janie Anderson French and husband Andy of Hendersonville, Sarah Anderson Simpson and husband Jerry of Orlando, Florida and two sons, Ronnie Anderson of the Cartwright Community, Ricky Anderson and wife Lisa Hackett Anderson of the Lock Seven Community; ten grandchildren, Steve Anderson, Kelly Anderson Edens, Joe Anderson, De Ann French Hampton, Lee French, twins Nathan French and Heather French Howell, Wendy Anderson Hardin, Linsey Anderson Arfsten and Spencer Anderson; seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
