Lawrence D. Beck, Sr., 89, of Wethersfield, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018.

He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Golyshko) Beck for 66 years.

Born in New Britain, son of the late John and Pearl (Bernotas) Beck, he lived in Newington prior to becoming a Wethersfield resident 28 years ago.

Lawrence served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 8 years, including during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church. Lawrence was employed formerly by Fenn Manufacturing and the Oak Hill School for the Blind, before ultimately retiring from UConn Health Center after many years of employment. He loved watching UConn Women's Basketball and was always active in his children's sports. He took great pride in keeping up his yard and enjoyed sweets, especially the one's made by his wife Betty.

Along with his wife, he leaves his three children and their spouses, four grandchildren, two sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother John "Sonny" Beck and brother-in-law William Golyshko.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, 305 Washington St., New Britain.

Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, Feb. 14th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a Panikhida service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, 305 Washington St., New Britain, CT 06051 or St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 1240 Broadbridge Ave, Stratford, CT 06615.
