Jerry Olsen is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, passing peacefully with family by his side. An only child of Harold and Eldred Olsen, Delavan, WI. He graduated in 1951 from Delavan High School.

Jerry’s United States Air Force career began in 1954. He was Commissioned as an officer in 1960 and completed flight training as a Navigator in 1961 on a KC-97 and KC-135 and was assigned to AC-130 Gunship during the Vietnam Conflict 1972-1973. Vietnam changed Jerry’s life forever when his best friend, Bob Liles’ plane was shot down. Bob now rests in Arlington National Cemetery.

Returning from combat, Jerry served on the Strategic Air Command, Looking Glass Airborne Command Post. In 1978, Jerry became Chief of Plans at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane. This was his last assignment before retiring in 1982.

Jerry said, “Lasting friendships are built in many ways.” Jerry treasured all those he called “friend”. An avid fisherman he enjoyed annual trips to Alaska and fishing with Artie, Tom, Doc, Bud, P.T., Dave and Don. He is loved and respected by family, friends and all his fishing buddies but feared by all fish everywhere.

In 2007, Jerry married Mary Jane, gaining his best fishing buddy. They enjoyed trips to Alaska and Jerry taught her to catch sockeye salmon. Her three sons were added to their family: Jared (Courtney), Andrew and Michael.

Jerry married Patricia in 1955. They had three sons: Douglas (Lisa), Brian and Arthur. All boys followed their father’s love of all outdoors, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Military Honor Service will be held on October 26, 2018, at 11:15 a.m. at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola, Medical Lake, WA.
