William Duane Blankenship, 81, of Barry County, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2001. He was born on March 16, 1920, near Jenkins, MO, to William Henry "Bunk" and Chloe (Hudson) Blankenship. On September 24, 1938, he was united in marriage to Ollie Mae Smith.

Duane was a member of the Shiloah Southern Baptist Church and attended faithfully until his health failed. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed family gatherings. Also, he liked to visit with his neighbors and friends. Duane spent his lifetime farming and raising Hereford cattle. In addition to farming, he taught in several rural schools in Barry County during the early years of his life and drove a school bus for numerous years. He served as manager of the Cassville Farmers Exchange for five years. Duane was a good neighbor and highly respected in the community. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ollie Mae; three sons, Henry (Sharon) Blankenship of Aurora, MO, Carl (Trudy) Blankenship of Jenkins, MO, and Pat (Debbie) of Jenkins, MO; two daughters, Louise (Jerry) Nickle of Cassville, MO and Marie Iiams of Jenkins, MO; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one brother, Mike Blankenship of Jenkins, MO; and two sisters, Barbara June Stumpff of Cassville, MO and Bonnie Ragain of Jenkins, MO.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Bunk and Chloe Blankenship, one son, Harold Duane Blankenship on June 25, 1975, one great grandson Sean Christopher Blankenship and one son-in-law Bob Iiams.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 1, 2001, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Rev. Jerry Nickle and Rev. David Eaton conducted the services. Burial was in Clio Cemetery, Jenkins, MO. Fohn Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
